Marisa Gallik & Audrey Calkin formed a dynamic hoops tandem against Delaware Valley. Gallik sniped away from the perimeter while Calkin dominated the paint, leading Honesdale to a lopsided Lackawanna League win over the Warriors

The Lady Hornets used a combination of balanced offense and airtight defense to hammer out a lopsided win over Delaware Valley Thursday at the Red Palace.

A big, enthusiastic crowd was on hand to witness this 39-23 victory, which snapped Honesdale's five-game losing streak.

Led by the inside/outside combination of Marisa Gallik and Audrey Calkin, the Red & Black posted its first win of the Lackawanna League season.

Coach Tracy Ludwig's lasses are now 1-4 in Division I and 6-8 overall.

Next on the agenda for Honesdale is a Wednesday night showdown with perennial District Two powerhouse Abington.

Opening tip for the contest is set for 7:15 p.m. here in the Maple City.

Solid Win
When Honesdale needed offense Thursday, the ball found its way to either Gallik on the perimeter of Calkin in the paint.

Marisa dialed up a long-distance trey in the first quarter. She also scored in transition and from the charity stripe, finishing up with nine points.

Audrey also muscled her way to nine points, but also ruled the low post with an iron first. Calkin blocked four shots and hauled down nine rebounds.

Delaware Valley never solved Honesdale's baffling press. The Lady Hornets used a relentless zone trap to force one turnover after another, holding the Warriors to single digit scoring in each quarter.

Abby Rickard and Mary Martin also contributed key plays to the cause.

Rickard drilled a deep trey and finished up with seven points. Martin turned in her usual high-energy performance, finishing up with six points.

Kacie Johannes and Emily Langendoerfer each came off the bench and had a positive impact on the contest, which was tied after one quarter.

Johannes took the ball hard to the rack for two and drained both of her free throw attempts. Langendoerfer also hit a field goal and enjoyed a perfect 2-for-2 stint at the charity stripe.

Honesdale made it a clean sweep with a 46-13 romp in the JV?game.
