The Wayne Independent & The Hawley News Eagle are once again combining forces to sponsor the annual Big Buck Contest. This marks the 30th year for the event, which gives Wayne & Pike County hunters a chance to showcase their trophies.
The countdown for local hunters is officially on.
With the Thanksgiving Holiday upon us, less than a week remains before the beginning of deer season.
According to officials at the PA Game Commission, deer season will open with a 5-day, antlered deer-only season in Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) 2C, 2D, 2E, 2G, 3C, 4B, 4D and 4E Nov. 29-Dec. 3.
This will be followed in these WMUs by seven days of concurrent, antlered and antlerless deer hunting Dec. 4-Dec. 11.
The rest of the Commonwealth follows the 2-week concurrent, antlered and antlerless season (Nov. 29-Dec. 11) that has been in place since ‘01.
