One of the always eagerly anticipated events of the holiday season is
scheduled for Saturday, November 27, from 4 to 7 pm at the Wayne County
Historical Society.

The 2010 Holiday Open House will feature, as always, an
array of homemade treats at the refreshment table, and this year there will
be flute music by Hedy Kunstmann. Museum admission is free and volunteers
will be present throughout the building to answer questions.

This year the society is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Delaware &
Hudson Canal Co. office, built in 1860 and the core of the Main Street
museum. There will be a "birthday" cake in honor of the building.

The Museum Shop will be open during the open house for holiday shopping.
Popular items are the annual ornament - this year depicting the historic
Bethel One-Room School; jewelry; books and many other items perfect for
giving.

Dr. James P. Watson will autograph copies of his new book, "A Country
Veterinarian."

The highlight of the open house will be the drawing for the Cash Raffle.
There is still time to purchase tickets at the Wayne County Historical
Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale Wednesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm,
right up until the drawing.
