Under the direction of Coach Lee Donat, the Honesdale Stars served notice that they will be right in the thick of next year's Wayne County Teener League title chase. The local lads used a roster loaded with 13 & 14-year-olds in battling to the 2010 semifinals.

Although they were eventually eliminated from this summer’s Wayne County Teener League championship chase, the Stars sent an unambiguous message to the rest of the circuit...
Wait ‘til next year!

On Wednesday evening at Honesdale High School field, Coach Lee Donat’s lads upset the Eagles by a score of 9-6.

This victory catapulted the Stars into a semifinal battle with Valley View.

“I’m incredibly proud of these kids,” Coach Donat told TWI Sports. “The boys really rose to the occasion and beat a really good Eagles team.”

The Stars’ Cinderella run ended Thursday evening with an 8-0 loss to the Cougars.

Over & Out
Dale Weidner drew the starting nod for the Stars and earned the win. He received relief help from Cole Stengel.

“Dale was just terrific,” said Coach Donat. “He pitched great and hit the ball hard. I couldn’t have asked anything more from him.”

Will Crossman led the offensive assault. The Stars catcher smoked a pair of triples, scored two runs and drove in three.

"I’ve been waiting for that all season,” said Coach Donat with a big smile. “When Will gets hold of a pitch, he can really give it a ride.”

Stengel helped his own cause by lacing two hits and tallying twice.

Gavin Canfield reached base safely three times and came in to score two runs.

Tyler Canfield chipped in with a late-game base hit and run scored.

“Pretty much everyone played a part tonight,” said Coach Donat. “This is a big win for us...especially being as young as we are.”

Spencer Beals and Ryan Smith shared the mound duties for the Eagles. Noah Box reached base in all four of his at-bats, scoring twice.
