Doesn’t even resemble Kansas lately (sorry Dorothy!) Matter a fact it’s beginning to look more and more like New Jersey, New York (or the United Nations) than our little, mostly semi-rural, Pennsylvania township!

Doesn’t even resemble Kansas lately (sorry Dorothy!) Matter a fact it’s beginning to look more and more like New Jersey, New York (or the United Nations) than our little, mostly semi-rural, Pennsylvania township!
Lotsa fascinatin’ news in the papers recently about Texas (Wayne County’s township, not that “other” Texas) rules, websites and violators .
I’m disappointed. My writing (derogatorily) mere weeks ago about “International” rules and codes deviously finding their way all the way out here to bucolic Wayne County. Then naturally dribbling over into our little township! Apparently my ruminations had little effect?
The papers this week quoted one township official, discussin’ an alleged, “... violation of the International Maintenance Code, Sanitation, Section 302.1...”
 Blah-blah-blah..., WHAT?!  Wait A Minute!!
How ‘bout we quote Me  right here: “...How (and Why) in the H#@& did we (texas township) adopt an “International Code” for..., Maintenance...?!” Are you tellin’ me our officials are not bright enough (or simply too lazy?) to write our own rules?! I certainly hope not. Seems to me at the very least, they coulda plagiarized some good stuff from other county or townships rule books, couldn’t they? International, be Da#%&@!!
I suppose (like some of you) I’m gonna have to take more time outta my busy schedule to attend more of these township meetings!!
If you’re among the folks still reading who got riled up after I wrote about the proposed “Burning Ban” a while back? You (and your like-minded neighbors) had better hurry down to township meetings and git involved..., Again!!
Because folks, if we allow these “International” rules, that have sneaked into our local regulations, to stand?
Some day you’ll be living under more International (UN style) rules (and laws) than you can shake a stick at!!  Think: Slippery slope, stitch in time, ounce of prevention...! OR Somebody  else will Always do..., “What’s Best for You!”
I’ve said all this without even knowing if there actually were “...contraceptives, feminine hygiene products or rubber gloves...” involved (as the news story disclosed).
 Because..., I don’t care!
My point is, should we as American citizens, be subject to “International” rules governing how we live our daily lives?!  My opinion? No. Absolutely NO!
Let’s continue to do as our forefathers have done for generations. Let us debate and decide, For Ourselves! Sure it’s a messy (noisy) process. But it is democracy. It is exactly how we’re (suppose) to “Govern Ourselves”.
One other disturbing aspect of the scenarios described in the paper? Our (un-elected) township government official, upon being questioned about entering onto someones private property, said, “...in a life-safety or health-safety issue, and I’m called to do that..., I do not need a warrant...”
Oh Really?!  Ya coulda fooled me!
I didn’t realize if neighbor (usin’ the term loosely) calls to complain about another neighbor, any government official can just stroll over anyones property, for a little look-see!?!  I’m thinkin’ firemen or police Might  legally do that, IF they see smoke..., Maybe? Otherwise, there are areas in our country (county) that might just git ya shot at!
At some point the discussions apparently lead to the question of “...could the violation be seen from the road...?” (property boundaries?). The answer was “...anytime I have a (legitimate) complaint...” Well now! Who determines “legitimate”?!
I also want to know this: Would it make any difference if some “official” is going to “look over” My property (which at 1/2 acre can All be seen from the road)? OR somebody else's 500 acre property?!
Tell you what, I don’t believe ANY government official should be (officially) “Looking” In, On, or Over, my (your) property!  No more than they could “look over” some other persons 500 acre piece, without trouncin’ (trespassing) over many acres (unseeable “from the road”).
I Don’t Know About You..., But next week I’ll be takin’ aim at that (private citizens) "Texas Township" website.
