Megan Carey is an eighth grader at LaSalle Academy in Jessup. A native of Waymart, Megan is one of the area's top scholastic swimmers. She just returned from the YMCA State Meet in State College where she earned a pair of Top 10 finishes in two individual events.

A 14-year-old eighth grader at LaSalle Academy, Megan has already been swimming competitively for nearly a decade.
In that time she’s compiled an outstanding resume of accomplishments.
Megan owns 22 individual records as a member of the Greater Scranton YMCA Swim Team.
She’s also qualified for the YMCA’s Eastern District and State Championships in each of the past five years.
“I love absolutely everything about swimming,” Megan told TWI Sports. “I love being in the water and competing and being part of my team.”
Her most recent achievements are a pair of Top 10 finishes at the State Meet.
Megan traveled to State College this past weekend for the event. There, she earned a 5th place finish in the 10-yard backstroke (1:02.89) and 9th place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.89)
Her next big goal is to qualify for YMCA Nationals. She hopes to attend Penn State University one day and pursue studies in marine biology.
Megan is the daughter of Jess & Teri Carey, Waymart. She will be a freshman at Holy Cross High School next fall.
