The Wayne Independent has started a new feature on the Opinion Page, called “Face Off.”  What is hoped to be a weekly standard, the feature is designed to help foster dialogue on important subjects facing the community.
Each Saturday, a different topic will be presented with two guest commentators from the area. Each will present their own viewpoint, what may be completely polarized, or with some shared thought yet expressing different ways of looking at the subject.
Here’s how YOU can be a part:
1. Write about a topic of your choice. Contact us if you would like to write a commentary on a topic of your choice. If chosen, we will then seek a commentator with another viewpoint.
2. Suggest a topic for others to express opinion, even if you don’t wish to write a commentary.
3. Respond to a call for commentators for upcoming topics, which will be listed on the Opinion Page. Please advise if your view is “pro” or “con”.
Commentaries need to be limited to 325 words and include the writer’s name. All submitted material is subject to editing for style and grammar, and anything written that is potentially libelous or bad taste will be rejected. Commentaries will need to be submitted by Thursday at 4 p.m. Include your phone number or e-mail address so we may reach you during the day. No renumeration is being offered, but you will be rewarded knowing you had a part in furthering discourse to find solutions to issues that vex many of us.
