SPECIAL NOTICE:
PennDOT, State Police Restricting Certain Vehicles from Interstates in Northeast Pennsylvania

Due to the winter storm gripping parts of the state, PennDOT and the State Police are restricting certain types of vehicles on interstates and expressways in northeast Pennsylvania. As of 3 p.m. today, all commercial traffic (except school buses and tow trucks responding to incidents), motorcycles and recreational vehicles will be banned on interstates 380 and 84 until further notice. Ban begins at 8:30pm on I-80 in both directions between the New Jersey line and the interstate’s intersection with I-81 until further notice. The restriction applies to all commercial traffic (except school buses and tow trucks responding to incidents), motorcycles and recreational vehicles on I-80 in both directions between the New Jersey line and the interstate’s intersection with I-81 until further notice. PennDOT cannot guarantee that secondary routes will be passable, and those who risk traveling on those lower-traffic-volume routes may face long delays. Motorists are urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Pennsylvania State Police Reduce Speed Limit to 45 mph on Interstates in Northeast Pennsylvania
Due to the winter storm gripping the region the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph on all interstates in Northeast Pennsylvania.
As of 1 p.m. today, the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph on the following interstates:
• Interstate 80 from the Interstate 81/Interstate 80 split to the New Jersey State line;
• Interstate 81 from the Interstate 81/Interstate 78 split to the New York State line;
• All of Interstate 84;
• All of Interstate 380; and,
• The entire Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from the Mid-County interchange to Clark’s Summit.
