Honesdale was cold and lonely for one couple as they walked up Main Street looking for a diner or restaurant that was open for Thankgiving dinner.  That was 27 years ago.  The next year the rector of Grace Episcopal Church decided that would never happen again.  He had met the couple as he walked to the Church.  He himself was snowed in with no way to get to a family gathering.
Since then literally thousands of people have enjoyed a free Thankgiving Together sponsored by the Church and served by volunteers from the community.
This Thanksgiving, Thursday November 26, Grace Episcopal Church will once again open its doors to the public.  A free turkey dinner with all the fixings will be served by members of the community at 12 noon.  Anyone may come, and bring your friends and family.  There is no need to call in advance.
Grace Church is located on the corner of Church and Ninth Streets in Honesdale.  For more information, or to volunteer, please call (570) 253-2760.
