At noon time, Thursday, the Commonwealth rested its case against Jeffrey J. Plishka, being held for the 1991 murder and rape of camp counselor Laura Lynne Ronning. Closing arguments are set for 1:30 p.m. in the court of District Judge Joan Snyder.
DNA test results conducted in 2006 were introduced into evidence. Lead investigator Trooper Patrick Zirpoli testified that DNA extracted from blood found on the barrel of the rifle do not exclude the victim or her family, and definitely rules out being the blood of the defendant or his immediate family.
The rifle, which was seized from the home where Jeffrey Plishka was living at the time in Dyberry Township, Wayne County, was taken with a search warrant on November 22, 1992. This was close to 15 months after the murder, which took place July 27, 1991.
