A domestic dispute at a trailer park in Damascus Township early Saturday morning boiled into a confrontation with state police resulting in charges being filed on the feuding couple.
The incident began when Pa. State Police-Honesdale barracks received a phone call regarding a white male that was walking on Route 652 reportedly with a shotgun.
Although police were unable to find him at the time after canvassing the area, they later identified him as Travis John Carney, 27.
Police then went to his residence at Orchard Heights Trailer Park in Damascus Township at about 1:30 a.m.
They found several people outside yelling at each other.
A female, whose name will remain undisclosed because charges have not been filed, was screaming that Carney allegedly assaulted her.
The troopers encountered Carney and also learned that the alleged shotgun was actually a pool cue case he was carrying around.
While police were speaking to him, the 22-year old woman went inside the trailer, soon exiting with a silver drink container in hand.
She yelled “you want a drink” to those gathered at the trailer, state police report.
She then threw the drink container, which almost struck a trooper in the head.
Both Carney and the woman were immediately detained. The troopers learned that the couple had been involved in a physical domestic dispute prior to their arrival.
Carney was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.
The woman was released; however, charges will be filed for disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness.
