The engaged couples pledged their personal vows to each other, walked under the traditional arch of swords, enjoyed their first dance to a moving performance by American Idol’s Melinda Doolittle (singing her song Best of Everything), had a cake-cutting ceremony, while The Liberty Belles sang Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and finally, sped off from Times Square in white WE tv “Just Married” pedi-cabs. WE tv’s “Operation ‘I Do’” kicked-off at 8:30 a.m. in Times Square as the famous streets surrounding Broadway rang with Pachelbel's Canon in D, and the first of the five brides marched down the white aisle with all of New York watching.
Among the couples were Lt. Kelly Lanning (US Navy) & Megan O'Neill. The couple spent the last year apart since Lt. Lanning was stationed in Chicago and Megan was finishing school in Philadelphia. They kept pushing the wedding back since they didn’t know where he would be stationed next.
The bride is originally from Honesdale, Pa. The groom considers Walden, CO as his hometown.
Kelly and Megan met in dental school in Philadelphia and once he graduated, they were forced to endure with the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship. Not too long after; however, Lt. Lanning proposed to Megan at her Grandparents’ 60th Wedding Anniversary.  They have been engaged for a year and Lt. Lanning will soon be stationed with the Marines in California and might be deployed in the next two years. The two recently purchased a home in Palm Springs, California. They currently reside in Libertyville, IL at the Great Lakes base.
The groom is in charge of the dental clinic at Great Lakes; the bride is a dentist.
