Let’s go fishing
Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again Some Other Day. Although, if you like to go fishing, it is a good way to get your bait as earthworms come out after a rain.
Most people think that earthworms come out of the ground after a rain because their burrows are flooded with water. But earthworms aren't afraid of water; they can live completely submerged in water for many months, and in fact, they will die if their skin becomes dried out.
What worms are actually afraid of is waterlogged soil, for it contains a substance called carbonic acid, which forms when water combines with certain chemicals in the soil. Carbonic acid enters the worm's body through openings in its skin and acts like a drug on the worm, eventually even killing it. So it's carbonic acid and not water that sends earthworms scurrying out of the ground after a rainstorm. --
Fishing is another good pastime for the summer months for kids and a nutritious meal for the family to enjoy.

Handy Hints: Painting.
* Instead of painting all the steps at once, paint every other step. Wait for them to dry, then paint the remaining unpainted steps.
* To prevent serious accidents from slipping on painted steps, add a little sand to the paint when painting the steps. This will give a better foothold.
* To keep paint from peeling off concrete steps, apply a thin coat of vinegar before applying the paint.
* Fences...When painting the bottom of fences and fence posts, to prevent your brush or roller picking up dirt or grass, use an old dustpan to shield it from the ground.

This week’s joke:
Three tortoises went on a picnic. It took them ages to crawl to a suitable spot and when they eventually found one, they realized that they had forgotten the chocolate biscuits. The two older tortoises turned to the youngest and said: "Will you go home and fetch the biscuits?"
"Why me?" he asked.
"Because You've got younger legs."
After much persuasion, he relented', but only on condition that they didn't start drinking the lemonade until he returned.
"We promise not to touch a drop," they said.
So the young tortoise set off on the long crawl home. After two hours, the others were gasping for a drink and so they took out the bottle of lemonade. As they did so, a little head peered round a nearby rock and said: "If you do, I won't go..."
Keep smiling.
