Mackenzie Dirlam is ripping the cover off the ball in Junior Division action this spring. BGM Fastener's hard-hitting third baseman has crushed six homeruns and led the Chicks to a perfect 6-0 record.
BGM Fastener remained unbeaten this week in Honesdale Missy Softball action.
The Chicks have reeled off three more wins and now stand all alone atop the Junior Division standings.
Under the direction of assistant coaches Shannon Jaggers and Amy Potter, BGM posted victories over Dime Bank (8-5), Dakan Enterprises (7-0) and Killam Construction (14-1).
With these wins, the Chicks upped their unblemished record to 6-0 on the season. BGM is slated to be back on the diamond Monday evening against the Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the HHS athletic complex field.
While the entire Chicks’ line-up is contributing to each win so far this spring, the majority of BGM’s slugging emanates from a singular source.
Mackenzie Dirlam hits in the three-hole offensively and mans the Hot Corner on defense. The talented young slugger is just tearing it up at the plate so far this season. To date, Dirlam has crushed a team-best six homers and is batting at a torrid .800 clip (12-for-15).
Mackenzie enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 day at the dish against Dime Bank. Dirlam singled and scored in the first, blasted a three-run homer in the third and added an RBI?single in her final plate appearance.
Jacqueline Gallik is nearly as hot as Dirlam, if that can be imagined. “Jackie”?pitches and plays shortstop for BGM, but she is a fixture in the Chicks’ batting order at #2.
Gallik paced her team to a 14-1 victory over the Deputies with three hits in three times at bat. Jackie fired the opening salvo with a 2-run first inning homer. She then added RBI?singles in the third and fifth.
Shiann Potter is also swinging some heavy lumber for the Chicks. The slugging first base-man bats clean-up and helped lead BGM?to a 7-0 shutout of the Dodgers.
Potter plated Dirlam with an RBI?single in the bottom of the first. Shiann then roped a lead-off single in the fourth and eventually came around to score courtesy of a Kristina Kober-lein base knock.
Amber Watkins is setting the table for BGM’s big guns. The Chicks’ lead-off hitter has tallied seven runs in the past three ballgames.
Watkins went 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored in the victory over Dime Bank. She walked, singled and scored in the win over Dakan. She then closed out the week with a 3-for-3 outing against Killam’s.
Gallik and Watkins shared the pitching duties for BGM.
