Western Wayne had been the hottest team in the entire bracket heading into Wednesday's Class AAA quarterfinal battle with Valley View. Sadly for Varden diamond fans, the Cinderella season came to a bitter end with a 1-0 loss at Valley View.

Midnight finally tolled for Western Wayne’s Cinderella softball team.

Despite one last stellar pitching performance from Megan Gershey, the Lady ‘Cats saw their season come to an close at the hands of Valley View.

Coach Bob Bunting’s team traveled to Archbald Wenesday afternoon and gave the Cougars all they could handle. In the end, though, Valley View persevered for a razor-thin 1-0 win.

With this victory, the Cougars move on to the Class AAA semifinals. Valley View will trek to Dallas for a battle with the defending champion Mounties.

Last Stand
Gershey finished up her senior campaign by authoring one final masterpiece.

Megan worked six strong innings, allowing just one hit and one run. She struck out six and issued only one free pass.

Alley Stine drew the starting nod for Valley View and earned the win. The Cougars’ ace went six and scattered three hits.

Allie Roberts, Brianna Collins and Gershey accounted for the Western Wayne offense. Each Lady ‘Cat contributed one hit.
