The following defendants were sentenced to county prison, Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Wayne County Court. The Honorable Raymond L. Hamill presided.


The following defendants were sentenced to county prison, Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Wayne County Court. The Honorable Raymond L. Hamill presided.
• Paula Louise Pepe, age 26 of Hawley was sentenced to the Wayne County  Correctional Facility for a period of not less than three months nor more than 23 1⁄2 months, in three separate cases, for one count of Simple Assault, graded as a Misdemeanor of  the 2nd degree, one count of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, graded as and  Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree, one count of Unauthorized Use of Automobiles and  Other Vehicles, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree, and one count of  Harassment-Communicates Repeatedly to Another, graded as a Misdemeanor of the  3rd degree.
The first incident occurred on July 5, 2008, in Paupack Township when Pepe chased a male victim while holding a knife in her hand.  The victim was holding a child in his arms at the time.  The second incident occurred on July 14, 2008, in Paupack Township when Pepe took a vehicle while knowing that she did not have permission to do so.  The third incident occurred on July 24, 2008, in Paupack Township when Pepe placed a phone call to a male victim while a Protection From Abuse Order was in effect. 
 She was also ordered to pay all Court costsy a fine in the amount of $400.00, attend a minimum of two AA meetings per week, obtain full time employment  upon parole, undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations  for treatment, complete an anger management program, obtain a GED, have no contact  with the victim in this matter, and pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender.
• Ashton Hannel, age 21 of Damascus, was sentenced to the Wayne County  Correctional Facility for a period of not less than one month nor more than 12 months for  one count of Simple Assault, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.
The incident occurred on July 10, 2007, in Canaan Township when Hannel assaulted officers while incarcerated at SCI Waymart. 
 He was alsond  ordered to pay all Court costs, continue with mental health treatment and attend an  anger management program. 
• Justin Alexander Conlon, age 27 of Hawley was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than seven days nor more than 12 months for one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st degree and one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking orDisposition, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.
The incident occurred on February 3, 2008, in Hawley Borough when Conlon and a co-defendant stole money from the office of a local insurance company.
 He was also ordered to pay all Court cost a fine in the amount of $300.00; $300.00 for the cost of the public defender; restitution in the amount of $1,164.25; and perform 100 hours of community service. 
• Kiernan Thomas McGuirk, age 53 of Hawley was sentenced to the Wayne  County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than four days nor more than six months for one count of Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, graded as a Felony of the 3rd  Degree. 
The incident occurred on September 13, 2008, in Texas Township when McGuirk removed merchandise from a local department store without paying.
He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, undergo a mental health evaluation and provide a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the sample. 
• Chauncey Scott Frazee, age 40 of Waymart was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than six months for one count of DUI-Highest Rate, an ungraded Misdemeanor. 
 The incident occurred on July 7, 2008, in South Canaan Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Frazee traveling at a high rate of speed.  His BAC was .230%. 
He was also ordered to pay all Court costsy a fine in the amount of $1,000.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, perform 50 hours of community servicey $300.00 for the cost of the public defender, and attend an alcohol highway safety program.
