  • Fatal crash claims Ariel man

  • Pa. State Police, Dunmore, reported that Lake Ariel resident Linus Marchegiani, age 52, was pronounced dead Thursday following a two vehicle crash in Jefferson Township.

  • Pa. State Police, Dunmore, reported that Lake Ariel resident Linus Marchegiani, age 52, was pronounced dead Thursday following a two vehicle crash in Jefferson Township.
    At 4:10 p.m., Marchegiani was traveling north on SR 247 operating a Chevrolet S10 truck. Coming south was a Chevrolet 3500 truck, driven by Angelo Reich, 55, of Roaring Brook, Pa. Trooper Richard Grippi said that Marchegiani lost control of his vehicle and his truck crossed the double yellow line, striking Reich’s truck. Both units came to rest in the southbound lane, a half mile north of SR 348.
    Reich was transported to Community Medical Center with minor injuries. Police said that the investigation is pending.
    Homicide by DUI reported
    In an update of another fatal crash, State Police at Honesdale report that Mark Slick, 46, of Carbondale, turned himself in on Thursday based on the charges that were filed against him resulting from a one vehicle fatal crash almost five months ago.
    The crash occurred August 16, 2008 at 8:37 p.m. on Little Keen Road, a mile or north of Route 6 in Clinton Township. One of the two passengers in the vehicle, Jamie Michael Lynady, a 17 year old from Waymart, was killed. Police said that the truck was moving at a high rate of speed and struck a tree. All three occupants were ejected.
    Slick was arraigned before District Judge Jane Farrell and released on $25,000 unsecured bail to await further court proceedings. Slick was charged with Homicide by Vehicle While DUI, Homicide by Vehicle, Aggravated Assault While Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or a Controlled Substance, DUI and various other traffic offenses. Trooper Michael Turlip is the investigating officer.
