  • On Dec. 21, Honesdale Borough Police responded to the Texas #4 Fire Station for a person shooting a gun in the parking lot at approximately 2 a.m.

  • On Dec. 21, Honesdale Borough Police responded to the Texas #4 Fire Station for a person shooting a gun in the parking lot at approximately 2 a.m.
    While en route, officers observed a man matching the description walking on Grove Street. 
    The man was identified as David Eldred-Smith, 30, of Honesdale.
    Eldred–Smith was found to be carrying a concealed .22 handgun. He admitted to officers that he was firing the gun to see if it worked.
    Eldred-Smith was arrested on charges of carrying a firearm without a permit, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and a Honesdale Borough ordinance violation of discharging a gun within the borough.
    He was arraigned before the magistrate and released on unsecured bail.
    A hearing on the matter is set for Dec. 31.
