Places are opening their doors today for those who don't have a place to go this Thanksgiving.

Hawley United Methodist Church, Church St. and Maple Ave., is sponsoring its annual Thanksgiving With Friends community dinner at 12 pm. Take-out meals will be available for the homebound. Rev. and Mrs. Martin Cox are co-chairing the event which is open to the public at no cost. Free Thanksgiving Dinner, Calandi's Cafe, 36 Pike St., Carbondale. Deliveries start at 11am. Eat in or take out begins at noon. Sponsored by the Calandi Family.
Gouldsboro Man Sentenced To State Prison
A Gouldsboro man was sentenced to twenty-five to sixty months in state prison in two separate cases. Forty-six year-old Gary Sztybel was also ordered to pay over $11,000 restitution. The first incident occurred between September 23 and October 21, 2006 in Lehigh Township when Sztybel received several items knowing they belonged to someone else. The second incident occurred between April 7 and 10, 2008 in Dreher Township when he stole lumber.
Honesdale Man Sentenced for Simple Assault
A man from Honesdale was sentenced to sixteen months to three years in state prison for simple assault. Thirty-seven year-old Jamie Wiek was also ordered to have no contact with the victim in the case. The incident occurred on March 29 in Honesdale when Wiek struck a woman with a closed fist.
