I knew it was coming. That doesn’t mean I exercised any special prescience. I’m pretty sure most all of us figured it would show up? I guess my shock lies in how much, by how many? With every new president, come “The Threats”. I don’t mean “by” the presidents, (that comes later?).

I knew it was coming. That doesn’t mean I exercised any special prescience. I’m pretty sure most all of us figured it would show up? I guess my shock lies in how much, by how many? With every new president, come “The Threats”. I don’t mean “by” the presidents, (that comes later?).
I’m referring to the ignorant, the militant, the morons (including simple-minded publicity hounds). Then there’s the worst and most dangerous of all, the true nut cases. Those few who might very well turn out to be more than simply big-mouth (small brain) thuggish louts.
The thing that’s bothering me most? The sheer volume of threats being directed at the president-elect! The crazies out there have worked themselves into a frenzy. That’s really got me worryin’ (should you too).
It’s bad enough these nut cases have the temerity to threaten the person who will become the president. But I’ve read reports that say even his family is being threatened!?
 Well, cut it out America!
Folks, this is Not the way real Americans behave! We don’t kill our leaders! (yeah, I know “we” have). But that wasn’t you or me (or any True American). It was one of those few “nuts” we allow to breed in our midst? Genuine Americans pray for our leaders. Then we wait, plan, campaign..., and vote in a new one!
Seems recently ordinary folks who did no more than put an election sign in their yard have also been victims of threats, vandalism and more. The rhetoric has even shown up in our grade schools! Kids intimidating other kids because their parents supported a presidential candidate?!
 Cut it out America!
You who’re still mouthing off (and allowing children to do the same!?). Still grousing ‘cuz your guy (mine too) lost the election? Your whinin’ may (unwittingly) encourage the dangerous morons. Worse, the genuine nut cases out there!
That tiny number of people (subhumans) in our society (every society) actually willing to commit assassinations. Those truly dangerous ones expounding timeworn “reasons” (there are no reasons) why they feel empowered to change national destiny.
Those nuts inhabit the same country as the rest of us, but they don’t think like the rest of us. Too bad that doesn’t preclude them walkin’ amongst us, breathin’ (polluting) our air and despoiling our society. Don’t encourage them America!
The election is over! Democracy lives on, it works. Let us all live on with it.
Meanwhile, we maintain a large, expensive cadre of dedicated secret service agents. They work 24/7 to keep those nuts at bay. These secret service folks are very good at their jobs, for which we should all be grateful everyday. If you’re a prayin’ person, (and you should be) every time you pray for our country, include them in. Pray they never fail at that most important job.
Now if you’re a regular reader (regular readers, really?) of this column. You’ll recall I did not support Sen. Obama as presidential candidate. I firmly and openly supported a true hero. One with experience (and actual qualifications!) to hold the highest office in the land. Right along with over fifty-seven million other folks who did the same.
But he lost the election. Get over it folks! This is America, where the winner takes office in January. The loser goes on to other things. The rest of us (me included) live with it and go on!
For instance, I could barely stand to look at our last democratic president. But when he spoke I listened..., because he was “our” president. I’m kinda funny that way? Every president gets my full attention when he speaks.
Then I change channels. Might surprise ya, but I’ve never listened to the opposing parties “rebuttal” after the president (no matter his party) finishes giving an address . I don’t need to hear some partisan, quasi-president “du jour” spoutin’ off immediately after the real one. Republican, democrat, independent or wannabe, I’ve never listened to ‘em.
For me it’s less important who I mighta supported to “become” president in an election? Once that election is over and that oath taken, I (we) have a president. He gets my allegiance as an American citizen.
Come high noon January 20th, when president-elect Barack Hussein Obama takes his oath becoming our president, I’ll be watching. When he completes that oath, I’ll salute him (might be grindin’ my teeth a little) and I’ll be saluting him as the president.
He’ll be “Our” president, not just president of the folks who elected him. Because we all have only one president.
I Don’t Know About You..., the next president will have my support, and my prayers.
