PennDOT has reported that replacement of a bridge spanning Ledgedale Road, SR 3006 in Salem Township, will start this week. Located south of State Route 590, the span will be shut down as early as early as mid-October.


 PennDOT has reported that replacement of a bridge spanning Ledgedale Road, SR 3006 in Salem Township, will start this week. Located south of State Route 590, the span will be shut down as early as early as mid-October.
The first task will be contractor mobilization. The project includes the removal and replacement of an existing steel I-beam bridge over Ariel Creek with a single span, composite concrete spread box beam bridge, excavation, temporary excavation support and protection, full depth reconstruction bridge approach, drainage, guiderail, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction.
Karen Dussinger, PennDOT District #4 spokesperson, said that the bridge will be closed for removal approximately mid- to late-October. A signed detour will be in place utilizing Goose Pond Road, SR 3008 and Everly Road, SR 3013. The contractor hopes to begin foundation work prior to having to close the operation for winter.
The contract was awarded to Fabcor, Inc.with a bid of $895,325.48. Anticipated completion is in September 2009.
