Proposed Electronic Assembly Plant In Forest City Won’t Be Built

A proposed 47,000 square foot electronic assembly plant that was supposed to bring up to 265 jobs to Forest City is a victim of the current economic crisis in the U.S.  Pittsburgh based JEC Technologies says deteriorating economic conditions have prompted them to call off the project permanently.  Around $1.5 million needed to complete the $10.6 million project became impossible to secure.  Greater Forest City Industries President Bob McGraw said that the plant would have had a good shot at being built had the plans been announced at least a year ago.  Announcement of the proposed plant was made last March.  The electronic assembly plant was to be built in the VISION 2000 Industrial Park along Route 247.  The salaries of the jobs of designing and printing motherboards for electronics, were supposed to start at $41,000.
