WAYMART — Playing Bingo, swimming at Lake Wallenpaupack, and making regular outings to Wal-mart, the seniors at Mallard Meadows in Waymart are no idle bunch.  On Friday, the seniors put on their work hats, however, to raise money washing cars for the residential care facility’s activities department.

“You’re never too old to get out and wash a car,” said resident Sue Theobold.

“The wash helps raise money for activities like pizza parties, trips, picnics, and games for the activities department,” activities director Louella Repsher told the Independent.  Also on the activities budget is the expansive vegetable garden on the Meadows campus, complete with beets, green beans, tomatoes, and squash, as well as some flowers for an aesthetic touch.

“It’s wonderful, and a good way to make money for activities,” said resident and car washer Rose Coons.
