Honesdale Borough Mayor Jon Fritz says they’ll repaint parking numbers around Honesdale’s Central Park.
The Mayor made the statement in a phone call Friday with The Wayne Independent.
Sue Walton of Duryea had stopped by the newspaper to complain about the problem, saying parking meters don’t line up with parking spots. Walton says she put $1.50 in the meter Friday, returned to time remaining — and a $5 parking ticket. She’d put money in the meter directly in front of her truck, when it should have gone in the meter to the right. “That’s not fair,” she said.
Mayor Fritz says it’s not the first time the problem has occurred, that it happens about once or twice a month. He said if it happens, send a copy of the ticket and a letter stating your grievance to the Honesdale Borough, 958 Main Street, Honesdale, PA, 18431. The information will be reviewed and a decision rendered, he said.
Parking meters surrounding Central Park are numbered, but corresponding parking paint has since worn off. “The Borough will do it’s best to get the meters and corresponding space identified properly ...These are not things to get upset over. Life is too short,” he said.
