 The following cases were addressed February 21st by the Honorable Raymond L. Hamill, Presiding Judge, Wayne County (state prison cases were reported seperately):
Floyd W. Schmidt, age 50 of Lake Ariel, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 6 months nor more than 5 years for one Count of DUI, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $1,500.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program and perform 100 hours of community service. The incident occurred on September 4, 2007, in Honesdale Borough when Honesdale Borough Police observed Schmidt travel over the white fog line several times. His BAC was .31%. This was Schmidt's 5th lifetime DUI.
Alexis Veronica Lennon, age 23 of Greentown, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less then 155 days nor more than 23 '/2 months for one count of Criminal Trespass, graded as a Felony of the 3rd Degree. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender, undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, complete an anger management course, obtain full time employment upon parole, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of sample.
The incident occurred on August 29, 2007, in Lehigh Township when Lennon entered a private residence and began to fight with the occupants.
Jonathan Sawicki, age 19 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 3 months no more than 23 '/2 months for one count of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree and one count of Driving While Operating Privilege Suspend/Revoked, graded as a Summary offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $200.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, perform 50 hours of community service and obtain full time employment upon parole. The incident occurred on July 9, 2007, in Honesdale Borough when Honesdale Borough Police observed Sawicki proceed through a red light.
Richard Vandine, age 60 of Beach Lake, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 39 days nor more than 12 months for one count of Harassment, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 3rd Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $200.00, undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment and have no contact with the Victim. The incident occurred between March 1, 2007, and October 26, 2007, in Berlin Township when VanDine repeatedly made inappropriate comments to a young female.
Vernon Dale Hall, age 57 ofTunkhannock, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 30 days nor more than 6 months for one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, an ungraded Misdemeanor and one count of False ID or Statements on Reports, graded as a Summary offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment and pay a fine in the amount of $100.00. The incident occurred on August 11, 2007, in Paupack Township when Officers of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission were investigating the report of a boating accident.
Christopher P. Corradino, age 26 of Waymart, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 15 days nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, perform 50 hours of community service, obtain & maintain full time employment upon parole, and pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender. The incident occurred on July 31,2007, in Honesdale Borough when Honesdale Borough Police were called to investigate the report of a one vehicle crash. His BAC was .155%.
Brad Martin Wenk, age 19 ofLakewood, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 10 days nor more than 6 months for one count ofDUI (Minor), an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500.00, pay restitution in the amount of $6,854.40, and perform 100 hours of community service. The incident occurred on May 5, 2007, in Mt. Pleasant Township when Pennsylvania State Police were called to investigate the report of a two vehicle crash. His BAC was .26%.
Christopher Edwin Sporer, age 34 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $ 1,000.00, attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program and pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender. The incident occurred on July 3, 2007, in Canaan Township when Sporer ran his vehicle off the roadway into a ditch. His BAC was .25%.
Ryan Dean Cook, age 24 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor and one count of Driving Without a License, graded as a Summary offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of$ 1,000.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and perform 50 hours of community service. The incident occurred on July 7, 2007, in Texas Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Cook swerving off the roadway. His BAC was .26%.
Gregory Lee Nicholas, age 18 of Newfoundland, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 5 days nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI (Minor), an ungraded Misdemeanor and one Count of Purchase, Consumption, Possession or Transport, graded as a Summary offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and maintain full time employment upon parole. The incident occurred on July 7, 2007, in Salem Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Nicholas cross the white fog line while traveling at a high rate of speed. His BAC was .08%.
Other cases
Cynthia Hubbard, age 21 ofHonesdale, PA was placed on probation for a period of 6 months for one count of Bad Checks. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $450.00, perform 50 hours of community service, maintain full time employment, and pay $300.00 forthe cost of the public defender. The incident occurred on May 1,2007, in Honesdale Borough when Hubbard passed a check in the amount of $450.00, knowing that the check would not be honored.
Brandon Irwin, age 19 of Honesdale, PA was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for one count of Receiving Stolen Property, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, attend highschool, obtain a part time job, obtain full time employment upon graduation unless enrolled in college, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation together with a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, and perform 100 hours of community service. The incident occurred on June 29, 2007, in Honesdale Borough when Irwin received a stolen bicycle.
Cheryl L. Maury, age 41 ofHobart, NY was placed on probation for a period of 23 '/2 months for one count of Retail Theft, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $341.17, perform 50 hours of community service, maintain part time employment and pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender. The incident occurred on August 25,2007, in Texas Township when Maury removed various items from a local department store without paying for same.
Frank Vincent Mazzotta, III, age 41 of Honesdale, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, have his operator's license suspended for a period 60 days, and attend and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program. The incident occurred on July 21, 2007, in Berlin Township when Pennsylvania State Police were called to investigate the report of a one vehicle crash. His BAC was .297%.
