The following defendants were sentenced to state prison, February 21st by the Honorable Raymond L. Hamill, Presiding Judge, Wayne County:
• Guillermo Ferrer-Davilla, age 52 of Brooklyn, NY was sentenced to a State Correctional Institution for a period of not less than 54 months nor more than 120 months for two separate cases which included one count of Possession of Controlled Substance, an ungraded Misdemeanor, one count of Possession of Marijuana, an ungraded Misdemeanor, and one count of Persons Not to Possess, Use, Firearms, graded as a Felony of the 2nd Degree.
He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $400.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment and provide a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of sample prior to being released from prison.
The first incident occurred on October 13, 2007, in Hawley Borough wBaez, Hamillhen Hawley Borough Police observed Ferrer-Davilla traveling with a partially obstructed registration plate. He was found to be in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun. The Defendant had previously ben convicted of prior felonies which prevented him from legally possessing a firearm. The second incident occurred on October 15, 2007, in Hawley Borough when Ferrer-Davilla was found to be in possession of Methadone, syringes and Narcan.
• Donna Marie Baez, age 41 of Gouldsboro, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Institution for a period of not less than 17 months nor more than 48 months for one count of Accident Resulting in Death or Injury, graded as a Felony of the 3111 Degree.
She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $35,887.89, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation together with a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample prior to being released from prison and pay $250.00 for the sample, and pay $300.00 for the cost of the public defender.
The incident occurred between September 13, 2007, and September 14, 2007, in Lehigh Township when Baez accidently ran over a male victim with her car, then proceeded to back up and run over the man a second time before leaving the scene. The victim received serious injuries including eight broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Baez was arrested 33 days later when the State Police found out that she was the person responsible for the crime. She had been attempting to borrow money to flee to Florida or the Bahamas.
