Edith Kizer Gilpin, Lake Ariel, died Saturday morning at the Community Medical Center after an illness.


Edith Kizer Gilpin, Lake Ariel, died Saturday morning at the Community Medical Center after an illness. Her late husband was Merle Gilpin.


Born in Maplewood, daughter of the late Leslie A. and Pearl Bell Kizer, she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and the Scranton Business School. She was a private duty nurse’s aide and was a school bus driver with her husband. She played the trumpet in the Crystal Band and loved her pansies and visiting with her great-grandchildren. She was of the Methodist faith.


Surviving is a daughter Dorothy Niles, Carbondale; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by sons Wayne and John Wittenbrader; and a daughter Dawn Wittenbrader; sisters Ruth Brooks and Elizabeth Layland; a brother Buddy Kizer;.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, with services by the Rev. Ron Onder.


Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.


Cremation will take place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.


Interment will take in Kizer Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
