    • On Friday, October 28, 2011, six boy scouts from Troop #1 Honesdale meet Dan Card, Honesdale Lions Club President, to plant a 15-foot sycamore tree on the grounds of Ellen Memorial Healthcare Center near the Transition Honesdale Community garden and resident outdoor pavilion. The boys dug deep, swinging pick axes and shoveling dirt to prepare the planting area. Upon completion, Margaret Lundquist, resident, was greeted by the boys and thanked the Lions Club and scouts for this wonderful addition to their outdoor setting. In the spring, Transition Honesdale hopes to have two wheel-chair assessable garden boxes ready as well. The Lions International Club’s goal is to plant 1 million trees across the world by year’s end. Presently, Troop #1 Honesdale in celebrating their 100th year.
