  • - Authorities are seeking information that may lead them to the person or persons who abandoned a dog on Thursday July 19, 2013 in a dog crate.
According to a release from Pennsylvania Humane Society Police Officer Marlene Metzger, the orange and white male Pitbull mix was left in a parking lot at the Indian Rocks Development Beach area in Ledgedale.
The dog was left in a crate in direct sun during temperatures of 94 degrees and high humidity. This type of heat and humidity placed the dog in extreme danger.
The report also states that "several concerned citizens removed the dog from the sun and gave it water."
Pennsylvania State Dog Warden James Rickert and Metzger are investigating the case, and are currently working on several leads as to the owner of the dog.
Citizens who recognize this dog, or have heard anything about this dog being abandoned, please call authorities at 570-493-3377 or 570-350-3589.
The dog is being cared for at Dessin Animal Shelter in Honesdale, PA.
